As there is an Antonov design bureua based at STN if your lucky you can sometimes catch an unusal visitor here.
FedEx (MD11) [2 a day], UPS (B767), TNT, Channel Express, Air Contractors (FedEx), Asiania Cargo, Martainair Cargo (MD11).
Also at STN you can catch unusal BizJet, Exec. and Govt. planes of all sizes!
Spotting At Stansted...
Unfortunatley BAA london stantsed was never built to cater for us aviation enthusiasts. So this time BAA has had no Spectators building to shut down! But STN has few un offical spotting places, which is a shame as this airport attracts many interesing airlines both passenger and cargo.
Parking Spaces at End of Approach Runway 23 (Green Street)
There is a field at the end of runway 23 where aircraft, if using that runway, will pass over you. Unfortunately no ground shots can be had from here as the runway is well set back with a hill a fence and trees in the way. Although this isn't the greatest place in the world to get pictures from, it is about the best Stansted has to offer and you should not be bothered bothered here.
How to get there -
Coming off the M11, but pass the terminal area opposite the M11 end of the building is a mini - roundabout turn right then imediatley left and head for Molehill Green and Elsenham. You'll need to go past Molehill Green and a pub and then there will be a turn on your left with a black sign for Hyteck Technologies this road is called Green Street. Turn left here and continue to the end of the road. At the end of the road there are a few parking spots park here and the planes are right over you! DO NOT BLOCK OR APPROACH THE CRASH GATE AS THIS ATTARCTS BAA SECURITY! If you stay clear of the gate security are usually fine with you being here!
