All to know about Luton...
Spotting At Luton
Unfortunately the offical viewing area was closed down many years ago and has now become Easyjets HQ. But there are still brilliant unoffical viewing areas around LTN.
Emergeny Exit/Crash Gate.
This is my favourite place to spot at LTN.
It offers brilliant views of aircraft both taking off and landing.
HOW TO GET THERE- Leave the airport terminal and head towards the M1. At the third roundabout after the tunnel under the taxiway, turn right, then right again towards Wheathamstead. Follow that road for a few miles (approx 1.5 -2 miles), and take second left at a cross-roads. Under the railway, climb the hill. At first junction, turn left. Immediately bear right. At the next junction, turn left (you will see houses on your right hand side). The road leads to the runway. You should see many cars parked up the road as many people spot here. REMEMBER Please keep the emergency exit gate clear. The authorites are usually fine with spotters being here!
If you wish to take photos at Luton this is the place to be, although you will need a small step ladder!
Short Stay Car Park.
This area is very expensive to Park in but offers great views and is perfect for photos.
HOW TO GET THERE- The car park is located in the main airport complex, and is next to the terminal building. It is signposted - follow signs for SHORT STAY CAR PARK.
As i say it is not cheap i believe last time i went it was £4.80 per Hour, but it increases all the time!
